Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of milywan.education and your Milywan Education membership: live online French classes, TEF Canada and TCF Canada preparation, private sessions, the free Practice TCF exam, and our Discord community. By creating an account or starting a membership, you agree to them. If something here is unclear, email us at milywan.education@gmail.com. We're real people and we'll answer.

1. Who we are

Milywan Education is based in Montréal, Québec, Canada. You can reach us at milywan.education@gmail.com or (819) 712-7730.

2. Your account

• You need an account to book classes. Keep your sign-in details private, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
• The information you give us, such as your name, email and French level, should be accurate so we can place you in the right classes.
• Students of any age are welcome. If a student is under 18, a parent or guardian must create or approve the account and agree to these terms on their behalf, and is responsible for the membership.

3. Memberships and billing

• Current membership options and prices are listed on our pricing section. Prices are in Canadian dollars. We don't currently charge GST/QST. If that changes, we'll tell you before it affects your bill.
• Memberships are billed monthly through Stripe and renew automatically each month until you cancel. We never see or store your full card number.
• If a payment fails, class booking is paused until the payment goes through.
• If we change the price of your membership, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then.

4. Your free class

• Eligible new students can book one free live group class. No payment method is needed.
• Your free class counts as used when you book it. If you cancel at least 24 hours before it starts, you can book a different class instead.
• After your free class ends, class booking is paused until you start a paid membership. A paid membership starts on the day you check out, and your payment method is charged the monthly price shown at checkout, then automatically every month until you cancel.
• One free class per person. Students who started a 7-day free trial under our earlier terms keep those terms until their trial ends.
• The free class is for students who haven't started a trial or membership with us before. If you started a free trial earlier and cancelled it, you can still join by choosing a membership.

5. Changing or cancelling your membership

• You can change or cancel your membership anytime from your member dashboard or the billing portal.
• When you cancel, your membership stays active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, and it won't renew after that. We don't refund partial months.

6. Classes and bookings

• Your membership sets how many group classes you can book each week (for example, 2 or 3 per week, or unlimited). Classes are booked through your member dashboard.
• Your class allowance resets every week. Unused classes don't carry over to the next week.
• You can cancel a reservation from your dashboard up to 24 hours before the class starts, and the class goes back into your allowance. After that, the reservation can't be cancelled, and the class counts even if you miss it.
• Classes run online, for example on Google Meet. You need a stable internet connection, and ideally a microphone and camera.
• We may occasionally reschedule or cancel a class, for example if a tutor is ill. If we cancel, the class won't count against your membership.
• The 4 private sessions included in Unlimited Premium are scheduled directly with your tutor. They renew each billing month, and unused sessions don't carry over.

7. Exams and results

We help you prepare for TEF Canada and TCF Canada, but we can't guarantee any exam score, NCLC/CLB level, or immigration result. Those depend on you, the official exam and immigration authorities. Milywan Education is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the organizations that run these exams, or with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Our free Practice TCF exam is for practice only and does not predict an official result.

8. Community guidelines

Our classes and Discord work because people feel safe making mistakes in a new language. In classes and on Discord, please:

• be respectful to tutors and other students, with no harassment, hate or discrimination;
• not record, screenshot or share classes or other people's information without their consent;
• not share your account or class links with people who aren't members;
• not spam or advertise.

If someone breaks these guidelines, we may remove them from a class or from Discord. For serious or repeated problems, we may suspend or close their account. If we close an account for this reason, the current paid period isn't refunded.

9. Course materials

Class materials, exercises and practice exams are made by Milywan Education and are for your personal learning only. Please don't resell or republish them.

10. Our responsibility

We work hard to keep classes and the website running, but we can't promise they'll be available without interruption. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Québec Consumer Protection Act or any other consumer protection law that applies to you.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change affects your membership, we'll email you before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
